The 2023 Weston Collective Scholarship Award Ceremony

This year we had 78 portfolio submissions! The work was outstanding, and we are super thankful to our local teachers for continuing to inspire our photographic youth. Since 2004 we have awarded 447 scholarships totaling over 130,000. I am so grateful to our community for continuing to support us and allowing us to offer youth photography programs throughout Monterey and Santa Cruz Counties.
I want to thank our amazing teachers: Martha Tonkin from Monterey High School, Celia Lara from Pacific Grove High School, Holly Lederle from Carmel High School, Heidi Wilson from Stevenson School, Gerard Martin from York School, Claire Lerner from Santa Catalina School, Greg Mettler from Monterey Peninsula College, and Janet Fine and Lesley Louden from Cabrillo Community College.
We are super thankful for our continued partnership with Martin Luther King Jr. School of the Arts in Seaside, where we conduct youth photography programs and operate a community darkroom for public use. I am excited to announce that three students in our Advanced After School Program have silver gelatin photographs hung in the show. The Facing Seaside II Exhibition is also on view on the museum's lower level.
