The Facing Seaside III Project and Exhibition
La Chiquita Market
La Chiquita Market is a cornerstone business of Seaside, and there is a stream of clientele passing through their doors at any time of the day. Their brightly colored storefront matches the warm welcome from the employees inside the market. La Chiquita Market opened the store to TWC’s class of 8th-grade DLAMP students to photograph, and one of the first departments they noticed was the butcher. A long glass case houses a ton of variety with a handful of butchers ready to weigh out your selection. The counter drew the students to the case in hopes of capturing their creative take on a rib-eye steak.
|There are many items to photograph and purchase at the market. The bright vegetable and fruit aisle to the left showcases Hispanic roots of all varying flavors. Down the stairs, you have free reign of their dry goods section, including a large selection of toppings and condiments.
As a special treat, the owner, Jennifer Corres, gave the students of the Dual Language Academy (DLAMP) a snack and drink. Jennifer Corres believed in the importance of our youth and was eager to participate in the “Facing Seaside” project and learn about TWC’s photography programs and classes in Seaside.
