Weston Scholarship - Judging at MPC
Weston Scholarship - Judging at MPC

Greetings!

We hope this post finds all of you happy and healthy!. Now is the time to start thinking about the 2016 Weston Scholarship Portfolio Contest! We have changed a few rules and want to make sure you know about them.

PORTFOLIONEW SIZE REQUIREMENTS - Photograph image size may be “4×5”, "5x7" “8x10” or “11x14”. A portfolio of ten mounted (may be over matted) photographs is required. The photographs must be made, processed and printed during the YEAR of the competition by the applicant.

MAT DIMENSIONS Please Read Carefully when mounting your work! We will only accept 2 mat sizes of 11x14 and 16x20. Please do not put your photos in clear bags! If you need 11x14 mat board please contact Gina Weston - gina@kimweston.com please give plenty of time.

A Box for your Portfolio - please purchase a good box to house your portfolio in. A box is not a requirement but strongly advised to keep your prints safe during and after the judging. This is what we recommend. Archival Storage Box from Print File 11x14 – 1.5 deep box. http://www.printfile.com/tdf11141.aspx Archival Storage Box 16x20 from B&H or Amazon.

Please remember presentation of your work is very important and can influence the judging. To be able to judge the portfolios fairly, all entries must by mounted on white mat board only. Black, or other colored mats, will not be accepted. All mat boards must be a consistent size as well.

QUALIFICATIONS Portfolios will be disqualified and excluded from the scholarship competition for the following reasons: • Black or colored mats • Incorrect number of prints • Digitally captured photographs • Digitally printed photographs • Inconsistent matt board size in portfolio • Incomplete paper work • Name on back of photograph!!!

LABELING! All portfolio boxes must be clearly and visibly labeled with your name and school on the outside. If we cannot read your name/school you will be excluded from the competition, so make sure to write legibly. All photographs must be lightly labeled with name and school on the backside of the mounted photograph. Titles on photographs are not necessary. The signature of the student’s instructor on the scholarship application is required, as it confirms that the portfolio meets the scholarship requirements.
